The story of SubSpace Communications (SSC) began in July 1996 when S.P.O.C.K members and close friends Fredrik Rundqvist (Label Manager / A&R) and Bo Magnusson (Financial Manager / A&R) decided to start their own record label.

The initial purpose was to give S.P.O.C.K a home, but as more and more artists began to seek their way to SSC, the label soon evolved into a proper record company, specialised in electronic pop music. With the addition of Kristofer Elofsson (Promotion Manager / A&R), Jörgen Strandquist (Booking Manager), and Mattias Nordgren (IT / Strategy) the structure was complete.

Today SSC's roster includes some of the most exciting Scandinavian and international artists - Covenant, Krister Linder, Spetsnaz, Stisch, Aaron Sutcliffe, Tyskarna Från Lund and Vacuum - as well as the British acts Univaque and VNV Nation.

SSC is distributed by Playground Music Scandinavia and has a co-publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia. SSC is also combining forces with the great Swedish label Pluxemburg, home of Andreas Tilliander, Fibes, Oh Fibes!, Jeans Team, and Pluxus.
